Sectionals - Coach Cordell said that Justin Whitman advanced to the state wrestling meet over the weekend. Whitman was defeated by the same wrestler from North Oconee that defeated him at the region meet, and who was the state champion last year. Cordell said that the the North Oconee wrestler, Brandon Owen, was a thrower. "He waits around until you make one tiny mistake and then jumps at the opportunity and throws you." More than likely Whitman will have to face Owen again at the state meet. "Unless we get lucky and get in a different bracket. If that happens maybe we won't have to wrestle him," said Coach Cordell.
The state tournament starts Thursday at the Gwinnett Arean.
