Varsity Soccer

Boys Soccer – The boy’s varsity soccer team hosted Riverside Military Academy today and came away on the downside of a 2-0 decision.

While Riverside didn’t overwhelm OC, primarily due to good defense and an outstanding effort by keeper Zammie Mendez, they were clearly superior in ball handling and passing.
Both Riverside goals, one in the first half and one in the second, were a result of a soccer melee in front of the goal where three quarters of both teams are right in front of the goal.  One team is trying to clear the ball and one team is trying to score.  It’s akin to a pinball machine with scoring or clearing depending on one part skill and four parts luck.
OC was on the short end of the stick with luck.
The girls had the night off and both teams will travel to Athens Academy Friday, February 24th.  The girls play first at 5:30pm and the boys follow at 7:30pm.
