<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif";">OC was
pretty consistent throughout the game scoring between 12 and 14 point per
quarter except for the 3rd in which they scored nine.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After the halftime break Social Circle made
their greatest gain on the Patriots by scoring 14 3rd quarter
points, thus going into the 4th quarter with a two point lead

with 45 seconds left and only a two point difference, Jessica Pulliam stole the

moved the ball down to their end of the court where Latoria Royal was fouled
with only 10 seconds left.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She made 1
for two from the foul line giving OC a three point lead.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>SC had a bad throw-in resulting in Pulliam
getting fouled.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Pulliam missed both free
throws but they weren’t needed as time ran out giving OC a well-deserved win.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After 3 years of getting individual qualifiers to State, both Oglethorpe's boys
and girls cross country teams had the honor of experiencing the State Meet this
weekend. On Friday, they previewed the State course, which was made even more
difficult this year with several leg killing hills. They woke up Saturday ready
to finish out the best season they've had collectively in several years. The
goal for the boys was a top 10 team finish and for the girls a top 20 team
finish. When it was all said and done the Boys finished 11th and the Girls
finished 18th.<br /><br />Sid Wightman once again led the charge for the boys.
Though he battled sickness all week and had a hard fall on the course, he gutted
out a 24th place finish. Behind him was Quinton Nash and Abe Tompkins finishing
in the 70s and Otoniel Padilla, Brandon Pinto, Garrett McCormack, and Ezra
Underwood. On average, the boys times were a minute slower than usual, showing
just how difficult the State course was. Though they didn't finish in the top
10, where they were ranked for much of the season, 11th out of 32 teams sure
isn't bad for a team consisting of 4 freshmen and 3 juniors. <br /><br />The girls
were led once again by the duo of Sarah Chastain and Jordan Pringle. Following
them was runner Jeri Willcox, Vivi Diaz, Natalie Doker, Brianna Basinger, and
Jojo Diaz. Like the boys times, the intimidating hills of the State course took
a bite into their times but the result was still very strong. Out of 30 teams,
the girls placed 18th. The girls will lose senior Jeri Willcox, but should
bounce back strongly next year in hopes of making it back to back State
appearances.<br /><br />Running in the OC is looking really good in the next couple
years not only for Cross Country, but track as well. For many of these runners,
soccer is right around the corner where they'll be hoping to go to State twice
in the 2012-13 school year. It's been a privilege to coach these fine
student-athletes this season and I'm very proud of all their accomplishments.
<br /><br />Until next time...<br /><br />PS. Soccer conditioning starts after
Thanksgiving break</span>Dan Gileshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03456767349499878189noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3330920236856589507.post-2884538018519963562012-11-03T08:08:00.001-07:002012-11-03T09:04:37.981-07:00Fall Senior Night<br />

Sid Wightman and Quinton Nash leading the way to an 8<span style="font-size: x-small;">th</span> place finish

only highlight being a fumble that OC recovered thus stopping the Bulldogs on

<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Charles Weyman Williams coached recreation football for
many years.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He started in 1968 when is
sons played and continued until 1980.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He
did not coach again until his youngest son, Sean Williams, asked him to help in
2002.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>During that time his grandson
played.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The team won the NEGA Vince
Dooley league two years in a row.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Currently, several of those young men pay for the Oglethorpe County
Patriots including seven starters: Andrew Williams, Kendrick Presley, Anthony
Thornton, Peyton Carlisle, Tanner Bowman, and John Mathews.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>There are several more playing on both the
varsity and junior varsity teams.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Weyman loved the time he spent working with the boys, especially
when they made a good play.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He would run
out on to the field and lift the player onto his shoulders and show him to the
crowd!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He was so proud of these young
men.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He loved them and he also loved
football.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Verdana","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Weyman’s family decided to give out Offensive and
Defensive MVP plaques to the high school players on a weekly basis to honor
their father.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They would like to
continue this for many years!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So if
anyone would like to send donations to keep this going it would be
appreciated.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Please send them to:</span></div>
